Tammy Closs is the assistant vice president for Communication and Systems Infrastructure. She oversees the university’s telecommunications, networking and systems technologies.
Tammy came to Duke in August 2005 from Georgetown University, where she was the associate director of Enterprise Product and Services Development, working with network services, communications technology and technical functions. She also has been director of Auxiliary Services and of Telecommunications at Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., and a technical editor for RMS Technologies Inc. in Landover, Md.
Tammy is a past president of the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education and previously served on its board from 2001-04. She also has been active on various other committees at the local and national levels, including Internet2, VoIP and EDUCAUSE working groups, and she has an appointment to the FCC Consumer Advisory Committee.
She has a B.S. in business administration and a master’s of general administration in financial management, both from the University of Maryland.
