Computing Operations provides and manages operational support for academic and administrative systems in five data centers across three buildings throughout campus, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. These systems support applications such as campus infrastructure (mail, Web hosting, authentication, DNS), classrooms (SISS, Blackboard), purchasing (SAP), payroll, general accounting, student records and alumni/gift development.

Services 

Computing Operations supports and monitors a diverse array of computing, from the Z800 mainframe to large Sun and IBM Unix servers to smaller Dell Linux and Windows servers to the distributed Storage Array Network (SAN) to a large tape robot to a 500+ node High Performance Computing Cluster.

Responsibilities include:

  • maintaining server room infrastructure (racking, cabling, power, etc.)
  • backup and recovery of files
  • printing and distribution of computer-generated documents
  • planning, coordinating and testing the Business Recovery Plan
  • media library support
  • courier services
