Ginny is the Assistant Chief Information Officer and has worked at Duke for more than 34 years. Past roles included management of multiple areas within OIT including planning, service and support management positions within the Telecommunications and Computing groups.
Her accomplishments include oversight of the creation of the Help Desk and computing support structure; SWAT, an annual project to help new students get connected to the network and online resources; and the incident management and knowledgebase tools that still exist today. In addition, Ginny was responsible for planning and implementing the undergraduate student portal, DukePass, and the Duke iPod First-Year Experience. She provided guidance in the development and implementation of Duke’s events calendar.
Ginny also led a cultural shift within OIT to focus on the needs of the customer. This included implementing service and operating level agreements to set expectations and establishing a life-cycle process for managing services and projects within OIT.
She has been a presenter at EDUCAUSE annual conferences regarding Help Desk and Support Structures and the Duke iPod First Year Experience. Ginny has an associate’s degree in business administration from Lees-McRae College.
