Billy Herndon

Assistant Vice President,
Enterprise Information Systems and Services

Billy T. Herndon is assistant vice president for Enterprise Information Systems and Services in the Office of Information Technology. He is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the Applications and Database Services, Computer Operations, Electronic Access Services and Internet Framework Services groups within OIT. He also is responsible for technical leadership and budgets for Duke's administrative system and projects.

Billy has more than 30 years experience with administrative systems in higher education and health care. He previously served in various leadership roles involving administrative systems including financials, human resources, payroll and student applications at Duke.

Some of his more recent implementation projects are the Enterprise Relationship Planning (ERP) systems, including SAP R3 financials and human resources/payroll, the Peoplesoft student administration system, and the SAP Business Information Warehouse. He currently serves in an oversight capacity for the Managers’ Self-Service (iForms) system.

Billy has given presentations at several higher education administrative and technology conferences, including CUMREC, EDUCAUSE, the Peoplesoft Higher Education Users Group and other organizations. He currently participates in EDUCAUSE, SAPPHIRE (SAP Users), HUEG and the IVY+ administrative systems group. Billy also served on the 2003-05 CUMREC Board of Directors, the 2004-05 EDUCAUSE Professional Development Committee and the 2006 Southeast Regional EDUCAUSE Program Committee.
