Using MacSFTP
Download MacSFTP
Logging into your account
- In the MacSFTP Login window, fill in the boxes as shown below:
Host: login1.oit.duke.edu
Login: your NetID
Password: your NetID password
Path: (leave blank to default to your home directory)
- Click Connect. A window displaying a connection to the host computer will open.
Uploading files
In the host window, open the folder where you want to upload your files. (If you're uploading Web pages, save them to public_html.)
Do one of the following:
- Drag and drop the desired file(s) from your local folder to the desired folder in the host window.
- Select Remote > Put Files/Directories. In the Select Files and Directories to Upload box, select the desired file and click Choose.
Downloading files
Do one of the following:
- From the host window, drag and drop the selected file to the desktop.
- In the host window, select the desired file. Select Remote > Get Files/Directories. In the Download File As box, select the location to download the file and click Save.
Using bookmarks
Bookmarks allow you to connect to a remote computer without having to type the host and login information each time.
- Select Bookmarks > New Bookmark.
- In the New Bookmark window, fill in the boxes as shown below:
Name: a word or phrase for the bookmark
Host Name: the Internet address of the remote computer
Login: your Duke NetID
Password: (for security reasons, leave blank; enter your password each time you connect)
Path: (leave blank)
- Click Save.
Disconnecting from the remote host
Select File > Disconnect.
