Virtual Computing Lab

The Nicholas School of the Environment and OIT are piloting a Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) begining Fall 2009.  VCL is a service that allows authenticated users to reserve a computer with specialized software and access it remotely over the internet.  Three application environments are available: GIS, NVivo, and Stats (Stata, Stella, SAS).  Reservations can be made for up to four hours through a web interface.  At the scheduled time, the image is loaded onto a virtual machine, which is accessible from the user's desktop via Remote Desktop Client.
