A group within OIT with a focus on the applications and relevant infrastructure necessary for users to communicate, capture, and distribute using digital video and audio. This includes research, development, maintenance, documentation, training, outreach, consultation, collaboration, and innovation.

COMMUNICATE
Web Conferencing - Strategies for collaborating and teaching with Web-based tools. Duke University has recently purchased Elluminate for use across the Duke community. It is currently being phased in for widespread use.
Video Conferencing - Consultation and recommendations on a wide range of options for video conferencing. Access to the Internet 2 Commons for multipoint calling, live streaming of calls, and video archiving.
IP Television - Currently under exploration, OIT Networking and DMS are collaborating to deliver commercial and non-commercial programming over the Internet at a future date.
Consulting - Consulting services are available to assist individuals and groups across the Duke community to successfully leverage the full potential of digital media technologies.
CAPTURE
DukeCapture - A production service offering tools for capturing lectures and events. This includes the highly acclaimed Lectopia capture mechanism that can be permanently placed in any classroom, auditorium, etc. to capture and distribute classes and lectures.
Consulting - Consulting on capture technologies, including Camtasia, Snapz Pro, ProfCast, etc. is available from the DMS staff.
DISTRIBUTE
DukeStream - A production service which offers a variety of options for QuickTIme and Real streaming.
Podcasting - Tools and strategies for podcasting. This includes to DukeCast tool (currently in pilot) for generating podcast feeds.
iTunes U - Duke University is currently piloting the use of iTunes U. If you have an interest in using this iTunes-like interface to publish content, please visit the iTunes U page.
Consulting - Consulting services are available to assist with supported distribution solutions, as well as with other solutions, such as progressive downloads
