Teleconferencing / Audio Conferencing ServicesAudio Conferencing Audio conferencing takes two forms: 1) Multiple participants using traditional telephone infrastructure. Typically some sort of charges are associated with long distance or multi-participant sessions. 2) Multiple participants using Voice over IP (VoIP). VoIP uses internet connectivity to enable audio conversations and is available most commonly using software installed on your personal computer. Below are recommended options for each category of audio conferencing. Additionally, if you need to meet to discuss electronic documents or jointly work on items that can be shared on a computer screen, you are encouraged to explore the possiblity of using Web Conferencing to enhance your audio conferencing with screensharing and presentation technologies. Information on Duke's web conferencing service appears at the bottom of this page. Free Audio Conferencing If you do not need a toll free (1-800) number, there are a variety of very high quality free teleconferencing services available. Below are our two favorite choices. Both allow a large number of maximum participants and both offer recordings that can be downloaded as mp3 files and/or podcast. The offering from Liveoffice is recommended because of its easy to use web interface for controlling teleconference features and recordings. Additionally, audio conferencing is available within the web conferencing service Duke OIT offers to the Duke Community.
