iTunes U - Course Pages
What are iTunes U course pages?
We provide course albums in iTunes U, by request, for any course taught at Duke . The purpose of the albums is for the Instructors and students to have a location to post and podcast audio and video content for their classes. The albums are accessed by Instructors and students using their NetID's.
The course pages can also be used for Duke community members wishing to share content with a NetID-restricted group of students or colleagues.
To view both course pages and public Duke content, visit: itunes.duke.edu

Who can access which courses in iTunes U?
Each album is created with the instructor as an administrator who will have the ability to decide access levels for students. Once a person has authenticated to the iTunes U application, they will see the courses that they have access to. Instructors and students may see courses from previous semesters. The current semester will appear at the top of the application as seen below. Policies regarding course retention within iTunes U can be found on the iTunes U policies page.

What kind of changes can I make to my course album as an Instructor?
As an instructor, you automatically have the ability to change such items as what art is used for the album cover and the naming of the course tabs or sections.
For help on how to take care of basic task and administrative functions, please review the iTunes U user guide .
What are Drop Box and Shared tabs?
Your course was automatically created with a tab labled Drop Box and one labled Shared. The Drop Box tab allows students to post audio/video/pdf files which are then only viewable by the uploading student and by instructors or TAs. The Shared tab allows students to post files which are then viewable by anyone associated with the course. Shared tabs are ideal for student presentations and/or shareable work.
You can remove either of these tabs if your course doesn't require them. You may rename them and they will still serve the same purpose. Finally, you can create additional Drop Box or Shared tabs by following these directions.
Can courses be merged together or copied from previous semesters?
Yes and yes. If you teach several courses or sections with content that you would like to consolidate into one course album, the courses can be combined into one course. That album can also contain unique tabs (content areas) for each course or section.
Courses from previous semesters may be copied and used as the current semester's album. New content can then be added to the copied course as the semester progresses. This prevents an Instructor from having to upload content over and over again if the course materials remain the same.
Both tasks must be completed by the iTunes U Administrators and can be requested via the request form located at the links below.
Course Merge Request - Merge 2 or more courses and/or sections together
Course Copy Request - Copy coursework from a previous semester into the course album of the current semester
Course Creation Request - Request a new Course album in iTunes U.
What about changes to the class roster? Drop/ Adds and the like?
Students will have access to those classes that they are registered for (including drop/adds).
Can I hid tracks from my students and "release" them later in the semester?
Sure, you can do this for a tab within your course and release all the tracks at once. For directions, please see our instructions for using Group Access Labels to change student access.
Is there an automated method to post my lectures to iTunes U?
DukeCapture, using Lectopia, can automatically publish content to Duke's iTunes U space as part of the delivery settings for a unit. For information on Duke's classroom capture system, please visit the DukeCapture Page .
