What is IP Video Conferencing and why might someone want to use it?
IP video conferencing is a set of interactive telecommunication technologies which allow two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously over the internet. A more detailed description can be found on the IP Video Conferencing Overview page.

IP video conferencing can be done on the Duke campus or with remote participants world-wide. Please contact DMS for information on how this can be done and what resources are needed. Duke University has recently become a member of the Internet2 Commons. This will allow those with H.323 video conferencing equipment the ability to do "conference-style" calling. Please contact DMS to schedule an event.
Duke Bird - DMS now has a 24/7 automated test video conferencing station available at: 152.3.126.30 or GDS 0019199431000.

What improvements are planned for IP Video Conferencing?
DMS is currently researching the best way to implement an infrastructure to support an IP video conferencing network that will seamlessly integrate with Internet2 Commons. The addition of a Duke Gatekeeper, Gateway services, an on site MCU, video archiving, and a firewall traversal solution are many of the improvements we hope to bring the Duke community in the future.
