Activating and Changing NetIDs
How do I activate my NetID?
When a new employee receives a photo ID badge, he or she will be asked to swipe the badge at a DukeCard Express Station at one of the DukeCard Offices. The Express Station will prompt the person to enter a password. The NetID will be activated immediately after entering the new password.
New students receive notification letters including their NetID and an initial password as part of the new student orientation process.

Can I change my NetID?
You may change your NetID only for the following reasons:
- You legally change your name.
- You provide evidence that your assigned NetID is offensive.
