NetID Requests
Affiliates and electronic identities
Affiliates are defined as Duke community members who have a formal or business need for a Duke electronic identity and are not recorded in a system of record such as SAP (Duke's HR system) or SISS (Duke's student system).
The following steps can be taken to request a NetID and Unique ID for an affiliate:
- Check the directory via Online@Duke to be sure the person does not already have a NetID.
- If there is no entry in the directory, request an electronic identity.
Active staff and faculty may use this secure Web site to make requests. The requester can select "New Request" from the left-hand menu and will be prompted for specific information for the affiliate:
- Full legal name (including middle name - not just initial)
- Date of birth
- Sponsor's NetID
A sponsor is defined as a person who is full-time regular paid staff at Duke with a record on file in SAP. The sponsor agrees to vouch for the affiliate's formal relationship with Duke and agrees to notify OIT Electronic Access Services when that relationship ends.
A response will be sent by e-mail when the request has been processed. Requests for Duke NetIDs and Unique IDs are honored on a first-come, first-served basis and may take up to two business days to be processed.
