Configuring LDAP for Mulberry

How to configure Mulberry
to access the Duke LDAP server

  1. Launch Mulberry and log in to your email.
  2. Go to File > Preferences.
  3. In not selected, click the radio button for Advanced preferences.
  4. Click the pop-up menu by Account and select New.
  5. Type in a name for this new account (for example: Duke LDAP).
  6. In the pop-up menu by Account Type, select LDAP Address Search and click OK.
  7. In the server field enter: ldap.duke.edu:389
  8. Click on the Attributes 1 tab and enter ou=People,dc=duke,dc=edu in the Root field.
  9. Click OK.

NOTE: Your Mulberry configuration may already contain a reference to a commercial LDAP server called Test LDAP. You may want to remove this server or your search results will contain entries outside the Duke LDAP server.

To remove the test server:

  1. Go back to File > Preferences.
  2. Click on the pop-up menu for Account and if it is there, select Test LDAP.
  3. Once the settings are visible, go to the pop-up menu by Account and select Delete.
  4. Click OK.

To conduct a search:

  1. Go to Addresses > Search.
  2. From the pop-up menu by Find Items, select Using LDAP.
  3. Enter your search criteria and click Search or press RETURN. The results will be displayed in the lower part of the window. Click the Message button to create a new message with the selected address.
