Eudora 5.2 for Mac Secure Email Setup

For all users

1. Double-click the hard drive icon on your desktop.

2. Click the Applications icon.

3. Double-click the Eudora Application folder.

4. Press CONTROL and click on the Eudora program icon. The Options menu will appear.

5. Select Show Package Contents. 

6. Open the Contents folder.

7. Open the Mac OS folder. 

8. Open the Extra Plugins folder.

9. Press CONTROL while clicking on the Esoteric Settings 5.1 file.

10. Select Copy "Esoteric Settings 5.1."

11. Click the Back button.

12. Open the Eudora Stuff folder.

13. Press CONTROL and select Paste Item to paste Esoteric Settings 5.1 in the Eudora Stuff folder. 

Configuring Eudora

1. Click Applications.

2. Open the Eudora Application Folder. 

3. Double-click the Eudora application icon to open Eudora.

4. From the Special menu select Settings.

5. From the left-hand menu, select Getting Started.

6. In the Username field, enter your Duke NetID.

7. In the Mail Server field, enter imap.duke.edu.

8. In the SMTP Server field, enter smtp.duke.edu.

9. From the left-hand menu, select Checking Mail.

10. For Mail Protocol, select IMAP.

11. From the left-hand menu, select SSL.

12. From the SSL for IMAP drop-down menu, choose Required (Alternate Port).

13. From the left-hand menu, select IMAP.

14. Check the box labeled Authenticate with cleartext passwords only. 

15. Click OK.
