Secure SMTP Server Settings
for Mac OS X Mail

1. Open the Mail Program in OS X.

2. Click on Mail and select Preferences.

3. Click Create Account.

4. From the Account Type drop-down menu, choose IMAP Account.

5. Type a descriptive name for your account in the Description field.

6. Type your Duke email address in the Email Address field, and type your name in the Full Name field.

7. In the Host name box, type imap.duke.edu.

8. In the User name field, type your Duke NetID. Type your password in the Password field.

9. In the SMTP Host field, type smtp.duke.edu.

10. Click the Server Settings button under SMTP Server at the bottom of the tab.

11. From the Authentication drop-down menu, choose Password.

12. Make sure the check box is checked for Use SSL, then enter your NetID and Password in the corresponding fields.

13. Click OK. You have successfully configured your Duke email account.
