1. Open Outlook.
2. Select the Tools menu and select Accounts.
3. Highlight your Duke Account and click on Properties.
4. Select the Servers tab.
5. Make sure the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field reads smtp.duke.edu.
6. Choose My server requires authentication.
7. Select the Advanced tab.
8. Under Outgoing mail (SMTP), check the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
9. Click OK on both open windows.
