Email & Messaging

Email

OIT provides all students an initial 100 MB of email storage space on the Duke network. You can increase your quota, if necessary. The network is backed up daily, so if you accidentally delete or lose some of your email, the OIT Help Desk may be able to recover it.

Messaging

OIT offers support for instant messaging, a popular and convenient real-time tool for communication with people at Duke and elsewhere. Duke uses Jabber for IM because of its open standards based approach, security, and the availability of client software for multiple platforms.

dCal

Duke OIT offers an electronic group scheduling system, dCal, to all members of the university community. Detailed information on individual sign up and general FAQs are available at http://dcal.duke.edu.

Mobile

NotifyLink synchronizes the DukeMail mail service and dCal calendar service with mobile data devices such as BlackBerry, Palm, and Windows Mobile devices.
