OIT Enterprise Services at Duke

Duke OIT offers several systems and services scaled to support multiple departments or all of Duke. Learn more about what we offer below.

Administrative applications

OIT provides Duke University with administrative applications and services for the implementation, enhancement and operational support of enterprise administrative systems at Duke University, such as SAP Financials, Human Resources and Payroll and Student Information Services and Systems (SISS).

IT infrastructure

OIT provides several services related to IT infrastructure to meet the changing needs of campus computing. Backup services include Tivoli Storage Manager backup and archiving services, SAN Disk storage and TDP database backups. OIT also offers Active Directory and Novell eDirectory services to the Duke community.

Database administration

OIT provides a variety of database management services, including database support and maintenance, security upgrades, backup and recovery, change management and performance monitoring. Supported systems include Oracle, SQLServer and Sybase.

Project management

OIT follows project management guidelines developed in collaboration with campus and outside peers. These guidelines, templates and flowcharts are designed as resources to improve efficiency and productivity and to encourage project success.

Virtual computing

OIT provides both virtual servers and personal virtual environments that allow faculty, staff and students to take advantage of flexible and scalable server environments as well as customized, remote computing environments.

Communication facilities design guidelines

Duke University implements voice, data and video requirements that rely on a wiring infrastructure of high-quality design. These requirements are intended to inform planners, architects, engineers and contractors of the minimum infrastructure requirements of Duke University and Duke University Health System, and must be met for all on- and off-campus Duke facilities.
