Internet Explorer for PC dial-up users

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Click on your ISP in the Dial Up Settings list.
  4. Click on the Settings button (right of the Dial Up Settings list).
  5. Uncheck Use a proxy server.
  6. Click OK twice to save your preferences.

NOTE: The proxy server settings will remain intact, so if you need to use them again simply repeat steps 1 - 5 for dial-in users on the proxy setup page.

Internet Explorer for PC broadband users

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Under the header of Local Area Network Settings, select LAN Settings....
  4. Under the header of Proxy Server, uncheck Use a Proxy Server.
  5. Click OK twice to save your preferences.

NOTE: The proxy server settings will remain intact, so if you need to use them again simply repeat steps 1 - 4 for broadband users on the proxy setup page. 

Internet Explorer for Mac OS 9.x

Internet Explorer for Mac OS 9.x uses the same steps for dial-up services or broadband. 

  1. 1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
  2. Click on Proxies under Network.
  3. Clear all of the check-boxes on the screen.

Internet Explorer for Mac OS 10.x

Internet Explorer for Mac OS 10.x uses almost the same steps for dial-up services or broadband.

  1. From the Quick Launch bar, select System Preferences.
  2. Click Network.
  3. If you have dial-up service choose Internal Modem from the Show menu. If you have broadband service choose Built-in Ethernet from the Show menu.
  4. Select the Proxies tab.
  5. Clear all the check boxes on this screen.
  6. Click Apply Now to save your settings. Close the System Preferences screen.
  7. Open Internet Explorer.
  8. From the Explorer menu choose Preferences.
  9. Click on Proxies under Network.
  10. Clear all the check-boxes on this screen.

Safari

Safari uses almost the same steps for dial-up services or broadband.

  1. From the Quick Launch bar, select System Preferences.
  2. Click Network.
  3. If you have dial-up service choose Internal Modem from the Show menu. If you have broadband service choose Built-in Ethernet from the Show menu.
  4. Select the Proxies
  5. Clear all check-boxes on this screen.
  6. Click Apply Now to save your settings. Close the System Preferences screen.
