Phone & Device Insurance

Both Duke wireless vendors offer insurance for selected devices. Insurance minimizes the device replacement cost in the event of loss, theft or damage. Without insurance, devices still inside the contract period must be replaced at the full retail cost. Please see each vendor's details for more specific information on their plans.

Alltel insurance 

Details

Alltel offers protection against lost, stolen or damaged equipment for a low monthly fee of $7.00. NOTE: Alltel only offers insurance for data devices. You may add insurance within 15 days from initial activation or phone upgrade. The insurance covers the loss, theft, or damage of the unit.

Items covered: 

  • Wireless Data Device
  • Accessories (if part of the data device loss):
    • Standard Battery
    • Standard Charger
    • Standard Cigarette Lighter Adapter
    • Standard Earbud

Limits

  • There is a $95 deductible for the replacement cost.
  • A maximum of two replacement requests are allowed per insured subscriber within a consecutive 12-month period.
  • All replacement requests must be reported within 30 days of incident.
  • Replacement value may not exceed $1,500 per occurrence.

How to make a claim

If your insured device is lost or stolen, you should contact OIT to order a replacement. If it is stolen, you may need to provide a police report number. In addition, you will need to work with your technical support group to reinstall the replacement device on your computer.

Verizon Insurance

Details 

Verizon Wireless offers protection against lost, stolen or damaged equipment for a low monthly fee of $5.99. You may add insurance within 15 days from initial activation or phone upgrade.

Insurance covers your wireless phone and certain accessories. Coverage is provided by third-party licensed insurance agencies. If your phone is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged, report your claim within 60 days to have the phone replaced.

Limits:

  • $50 non-refundable deductible per approved claim
  • 2-Claim limit in any 12-month period (beginning with the date of the first loss)
  • $1500 claim limit (inclusive of a $200 accessory limit)

How to make a claim

If insured device is lost or stolen, call 1-877-646-7874 to order a replacement. If stolen, you may need to provide a police report number. In addition, you will need to work with your technical support group to reinstall the replacement device on your computer.
