Transfer Duke Cellular Service

Transfering from Duke Cellular Service to a personal account requires two steps. Select the scenario that best describes you learn how to transfer your account and phone number.

Move from Duke Alltel to Personal Alltel

Follow these instruction to transfer from Duke Alltel to a personal Alltel account.

NOTE: You only need to complete Step 2 if you need to keep your existing mobile number.

  1. Request Service cancellation through Online@Duke
    • Go to http://www.duke.edu/online
    • Select Student Accounts
    • Select Manage my OIT Account
    • Select the Duke Service you wish to cancel
    • Select Cancel Service.
    • If you want to keep your number, select Account Transfer and proceed to step 2.  If you do not need your wireless number, select Disconnect.
  2. Submit "Alltel Transfer of Account Responsibility"
    • Download the Alltel Transfer form.
    • Make sure you provide all the information where you see an "X".
    • Alltel may require a deposit once they approve you.
    • Provide a copy of your Driver's License and Social Security Card to OIT Wireless Service Center.

Move from Duke Alltel to others

Follow these instructions to transfer from Duke Alltel to any other type of service.

NOTE: You only need to complete Step 2 if you need to keep your existing mobile number.

  1. Request Service cancellation through Online@Duke
    • Go to http://www.duke.edu/online
    • Select Student Accounts
    • Select Manage my OIT Account
    • Select the Duke Service you wish to cancel
    • Select Cancel Service.
    • If you want to keep your number, select Account Transfer and proceed to step 2.  If you do not need your wireless number, select Disconnect.
  2. Submit "Alltel Transfer of Account Responsibility"
    • Download the Alltel Transfer form.

  2. Submit "Verizon Transfer of Billing Responsibility"
  3. Contact Verizon directly to port to preferred provider
