Brief DukeMail Outage

June 25, 2009

If you're on DukeMail (an e-mail address that ends in @duke.edu) — or if you sent e-mail to an @duke.edu e-mail address — you should check to make sure e-mail you sent between 9:15 and 11 a.m. this morning (Thursday, June 25) got to its intended recipient.

A problem with DukeMail this morning caused the system to reject messages to those addresses. People outside Duke (or inside Duke, but using another e-mail system) trying to send you a message during that time would have been notified that the message couldn't be delivered. If you sent another DukeMail user a message during that time, though, there was no way for the same kind of notice to get to you.

For this reason, it's probably a good idea to check through your Sent folder and to resend anything that went out  to an @duke.edu address during that time. (Mail sent to other addresses, like @mc.duke.edu, shouldn't have been affected.)
